Landscape modules are planned combinations of plants, trees, shrubs, grasses, water features, and other farm elements designed for a specific landscape or functional purpose. In integrated farming, landscape modules can be used to make productive use of different areas of the farm while supporting biodiversity, soil protection, aesthetics, and resource management.
Examples may include fruit-tree zones, medicinal or aromatic plant areas, fodder strips, boundary plantations, kitchen gardens, flowering plant sections, and green buffers. The selection of plants should consider local climate, soil conditions, water availability, maintenance requirements, and the overall farming system. Properly designed modules can help diversify farm production while improving the functional use of available land.
