Pregnancy diagnosis is used to determine whether a doe has conceived after mating or artificial insemination. Early and accurate diagnosis helps farmers manage pregnant and non-pregnant does separately, adjust feeding programmes, plan kidding arrangements, and identify animals that may need to be rebred.
Several methods can be used, including ultrasonography, blood or milk-based tests, and physical or behavioural assessment. Ultrasound is particularly useful because it can provide information about pregnancy at an early stage and may also help assess fetal development. The method selected should depend on available facilities, timing, and professional expertise.
